Top 5 high-performance Blockchains

Ziliqa, when it was introduced, solved, and continues to solve, one of the major issues faced by the crypto economy—scalability. Ziliqa is essentially a high-throughput public blockchain platform that has been designed to scale thousands of transactions in a single second. To achieve this, Ziliqa employs the mechanism of sharding which divides the network into multiple shards capable of processing transactions in parallel.

Ziliqa’s solution of sharding showed some rather impressive results when in October 2017, the network reported a record of 2400 transactions per second on a test net. After running an internal test net with a successful result, the platform released its public test net in March 2018.

The project has been accepted in favorable light and has managed to hold its own in the declining cryptocurrency market. In early June, when the crypto market was trying to make up for the recent fall, ZIL alone grew by 10%.

The coin has been in the market for 5 months and its 30 days volatility was 34.76%. An all-time high reached by the coin is $0.2315 USD and the maximum growth displayed in a month is 100.56%.

The coin is estimated to be valued at $1-4 USD by the end of 2018. Its main net is also scheduled to go live in Q3 of 2018.

PCHAIN was a rather innovative project which allowed for a scalability and transaction speed better than what Ziliqa had to offer. The project advertised itself as the first multi-chain system that supports Ethereum Virtual Machine in the world making large-scale applications possible.

That is to say, PCHAIN allowed a native support for multiple chain applications by using sidechains. The USP of this project was that it is compatible with the EVM software which is the underlying structure of the Ethereum smart contracts. Instead of one single side chain, PCHAIN allows many side chains to operate in parallel thus taking scalability to another level.

PCHAIN was highly successful in its application as numerous applications agreed to be built on the PCHAIN blockchain. When compared to other projects which aimed at providing something similar, PCHAIN stands up to all the hype. Projects such as Lisk, Ardor, and Asch are multi chain but none of them provide an effective support for EVM. When we talk about the comparison between PCHAIN and Ziliqa, PCHAIN has taken what Ziliqa had to offer one step higher. PCHAIN improved the overall performance of the blockchain from the data processing and sharding perspective.

The coin has been in the market for less than a month and its 30 days volatility is estimated at 46.21%. An all-time high reached by the coin so far is $0.21 USD and the maximum growth displayed in a day is 9.26%.

yet another blockchain project aimed at providing a multi-layer, p2p transaction with high scalability capable of handling millions of transactions per second. This platform also utilizes sharding to account for a high capacity of p2p transactions. The project is divided into two layers—the first one being a sharding layer allowing for a high throughput and the second one being a root layer serving confirmation of the blocks of the first one.

Quarkchain had a demonstrating 2,000 transactions per second on their closed test net. This figure gave the project an edge over other similar blockchain 3.0 projects. Moreover, Qaurkchain integrated the EVM for smart contracts allowing the development of dapps on the platform.

The project has proved quite helpful to dapps such as crypto kitties that require scalability and AI, IoT, big data, and advertisements that require high transaction rate.

High-performance blockchain

HPB is another blockchain project aimed at solving the problem of low transaction per second and latency in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The platform has been created for high-frequency needs and offers a scaling solution by developing a combination of hardware and software architecture

The hardware architecture of the project uses the TOE technology to decrease the load on the network by sending processing tasks to dedicated hardware chips and the software architecture is then able to perform other tasks at a speed of up to one million transactions per second.

The coin was launched in Q1 of 2018 and its 30d volatility was 30.69%. The maximum USD value it reached was $9.26 USD and a maximum growth of 108.70%.

Among the most impressive things about HPB is its partnership with NEO. The project will become the first blockchain to use the NEO Virtual Machine. Some other noteworthy partnerships they have include UnionPay which controls 80% of all of China’s banking transaction data and CPChain which is developing a distributed infrastructure for IoT devices.

EOS is a blockchain platform similar to Ethereum in operation which offers a platform for the development of decentralised applications. The software is aimed at providing cloud storage, accounts, authentication, databases, asynchronous communication as well as scheduling of applications thus resulting in a technology that is capable of processing millions of transactions per second.

The EOS is seen as a major competitor for HPB (which many people also call the Chinese EOS) but one thing that gives HPB the edge over EOS is the combination of a hardware and software architecture.

While EOS has been in the market longer than HPB and has reached an all-time high in USD of $22.89, dapp developers are favouring HPB not only because of the high-speed performance but also because they will not be required to pay any transaction fee. On EOS, on the other hand, dapp developers need to hold EOS tokens to access the network resources.
