A developer, Laszlo Hanyecz, spent 10,000 BTC for 2 large pizzas from Papa Johns on the 22nd of May back in 2010. The day is commemorated as Pizza Day because it is probably the first ever transaction taken out with bitcoins in exchange for a commodity.
