Crypto Twitter has become a new place to make donations and impact lives for the greater good. A famous personality by the name of Jordan Fish, aka COBIE, started Twitch donation streams to support new artists and people going through difficult times. On May 15, a single live stream with a duration of three-plus hours managed to raise $822,000 for a family struggling to pay hospital bills.
The initiative was launched by an individual who goes by the Twitter handle- @Milkman2228. Soon after, a video of the boy went viral on “Dudes Posting Their W’s” Twitter account. He later contacted the family to help them set up a meta wallet and share his Twitter following address. This individual also personally donated five eth.
Jordan shared on his Twitter account ‘Crypto Cobain’ encouraging his followers to join the live show and help the family get out of debt. In a matter of hours, hundreds of his followers joined the live, and COBIE set a goal of reaching $500,000 at first, but that soon escalated to even larger amounts. Jordan’s followers showed great support during the entire live stream, and we can see it below how truly they cared for that kid-
Few members of the crypto community made some huge donations to help the kid have a bright future. Adam Cochran, a senior partner at a venture capital firm called Cinneamhain Ventures, donated 25 ETH to the cause and urged other members to participate in the live stream donation. The total amount received is $822,000, and out of that, $292,000 came in tokens and the rest from the ether.
The family showed their gratitude to every member of the crypto community for letting their child have a great future. J.O also made a poster that reads, “Thank you Crypto Twitter.” The twitter managed by his family also posted him saying, “UpOnly and pump it loomdart.” To give context, UpOnly is a podcast done by Crypto Cobain and one of his friends Ledger.
COBIE, being the thought leader in the cryptocurrency space, understands how easy it is to donate to any user having a meta wallet set up in their device. This isn’t his first time making a significant impact in someone else’s life, and it sure is not going to be the last. Just a few weeks back, he brought his crypto followers to support a musician with very little viewership.
The musician was a 24-year old Canadian, and she played the Guitar alongside her boyfriend for seven straight hours. Jason randomly found Mela Bee on the live streaming site, and he tweeted about her live and dropped in the wallet address to donate. In a short amount of time, she received close to $198,000. One of the biggest donations came in REN tokens, and they were worth almost $100,000.
Once Mela realized someone just sent her digital money, she couldn’t believe the amount and expressed her gratitude by sharing a video on Twitter. “Best six hours of my life”, she said and mentioned how surreal the experience was. She also added by saying, “I honestly didn’t believe it at first. I didn’t think it was real. I thought somehow I was going to be scammed, but when I realized this was legit I had to hold back tears. When I stepped away for 10 minutes it hit me and I started balling.”
Fish and his group of crypto enthusiasts targeted many streamers on twitch to show their support and love. In April, Jason, with his followers, donated over $85,000 to a small Twitch streamer leaving him and his wife shocked. Fish also shared a conversation with the streamer on his Twitter, saying, “Cam’s wife still doesn’t believe it’s real.”
All these stream donations show how powerful a community can be and how much they support the people in need. Jason is the primary initiator doing a fantastic job using his following to accomplish great things using cryptocurrencies. People in the crypto twitter appreciate the culture change and how COBIE is being a role model for many young investors in the crypto space.
Everyone in such crypto communities is pushing the envelope to use crypto tokens as donations and create more supporting opportunities for people going through a tough time. Without revealing their identity, this type of system makes donations more private and lets anyone in the world participate.
