The EEA, Enterprise Ethereum Alliance was created in February 2017 with the aim of becoming an open-source standard and private “permissioned” version of the Ethereum blockchain that can address the common interests of enterprises in various sectors. Initially, over 116 blockchain based start-ups, research groups and Fortune 500 companies came together to work with Ethereum developers in order to create a newer, more transparent ecosystem and to let Ethereum evolve to an enterprise-grade technology.

Built upon the ideals of forward-looking enterprises and blockchain innovators, EEA leverages existing standards to evolve in tandem with advances in the public blockchain. It is non-profit establishment formed to build, promote and broadly support Ethereum-based technology practices in order to solve real-world problems.

Two days ago, the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) announced that 34 more organizations had joined the blockchain industry since last May. Since the launch of the group in February earlier this year, a total of 150 organizations have taken membership making EEA the world’s largest open-source blockchain initiative.

Julio Faura, Chairman of the Board, EEA said : “EEA’s rapid growth in membership mirrors the accelerating acceptance and deployment of Ethereum blockchain solutions in the global marketplace. The technological breadth, depth and variety of organizations coming together under the auspices of EEA to create and drive enterprise Ethereum standards bodes well for the future development of the next-generation Ethereum ecosystem.”

The Alliance aims to address enterprise deployment requirements in the widest horizon of sectors possible. Currently, they cater to technology, banking, government, healthcare, energy, pharmaceuticals, marketing, consulting, automotive, management, entertainment, mobile, and insurance, as well as a number of emerging Ethereum startups.

Built upon the ideals of forward-looking enterprises and blockchain innovators, EEA leverages existing standards to evolve in tandem with advances in the public blockchain. It is non-profit establishment formed to build, promote and broadly support Ethereum-based technology practices in order to solve real-world problems.

Though the R&D of Enterprise Ethereum alliance is focused on privacy, confidentiality, scalability and security, its members and investors have also displayed a keen interest in investigating and collaborating on hybrid architectures to potentially anchor private blockchains on the public Ethereum blockchain in the future as well as industry-specific application layer working groups.

Ethereum Enterprise Alliance’s open source framework enables mass adoption at depth and breadth by facilitating collaborations with the member base and being open to any member of the Ethereum community who wishes to participate.
