What started as a school project has now made Ghozali Ghozalo a life-changing fortune. In less than two days after listing on OpenSea marketplace, the price of each Ghozali’s selfies went from $3 to a peak high of $3,000. The highest last sale was 2 ETH. That is more than $6,000 for a selfie.
As of press time, the floor price is down drastically from its all-time high and has reached a stable floor above 0.2 ETH. This shows how strong the NFT community is! Without any value addition and fanfare, this Indonesian student got support from some of the biggest online influencers in the NFT space.
I believe his curiosity to simply explore the NFT space also helped him build such a cult following. He just wanted to create a graduation video after school by taking a selfie every day. As NFTs are surging in popularity, he decided to give it a shot and made this collection. And look where that got him today.
Many people who supported Ghozali by buying his NFTs at low prices ended up making 10-100 times their investment. Ghozali also admitted on Twitter that he never understood why people pay so much money to buy pictures on the internet. But after spending quality time in community discord servers and interacting with many NFT enthusiasts, he is convinced that NFTs are here to stay.
To help others get started, he also created a discord server. It is nice to see such things happen in the NFT space because we always see people face rug pulls and all kinds of hacks. This shows the true potential of communities that are willing to support content creators in any way they can. Ghozali consistently took selfies for five years. No matter how you slice it, it is hard to take pictures every day in the same posture and angle. So his efforts paid off big.
At the end of the day, this is what NFTs are all about. People can create something so basic and resonate with a large community. We want to see more of this moving forward to help onboard more active participants in the NFT space.
You can check out the collection here.
