Top 3 Upcoming NFT Drops to Watch This Week (23 to 29 August)
Meet your Author
This is Charlie Chang – I’m back for a second week in a row! Next week will be my last week, but who knows, maybe I’ll turn this into something more permanent. Hope you have all been doing well. I’ve been taking a little break from my Twitter project because it had gotten a bit overwhelming and I wasn’t too confident in its utility anymore. I’m currently in the process of revamping it – with the help of some professional data tools. I look forward to sharing with everyone my new work once it’s ready. Don’t miss out! Be sure to follow me and turn those notifications on because I’ll be dropping some SERIOUS alpha in the coming weeks.
Thanks and enjoy the rest of the article 🙂
NFT WORLD
Man, oh, man. The NFT world just continues to blow my mind. I started writing this piece on Friday and my thesis at that time was this space was getting overheated, that a sustained correction had been in place for close to a week and that I had been consistently echoing the sentiment that you could no longer blindly ape into a project and expect a profit. Essentially, that it could be time to de-risk.
I’m now finishing this article on Monday and the entire thesis has changed. This market just e x p l o d e d over the weekend – with the likes of 0n1Force, CyberKongs VX, Penguins, Gutter Cut, etc all seeing double-digit and even triple-digit growth.
I am reflecting now and am wondering whether the period of ‘sustained correction’ we saw was really just a product of the money in NFT land cyclically flowing out of the blue-chip and mid-cap projects we’re used to following, and flowing into the small-cap alts (think random derivative projects like FastFood Squiggles). Following this, the money flowed back into the top of the pecking order – AB Curated with its record-breaking Squiggles and Fidenza sales; BAYC floor almost at 30E at some point; etc.
Now – it seems like money is flowing down into the blue-chip projects again. Animetas, CyberKongs VX, WoW, Penguins, Gutter Cat, and even 0n1 have seen meteoric rises.
What does this mean for you? Well, assuming that my assumption is right (and it could be COMPLETELY WRONG), then the next destination for people that have flipped a profit will be the mid-tier NFT projects – the ones that aren’t quite blue-chip but are competing fiercely to join it. This does not necessarily have to be a new project – I see a lot of existing projects that have great entry prices at the moment. Generativemasks and Parallels are ones that I’m looking at. Full disclosure: I hold 1 generativemask and 7 Parallels.
Now given that this is a ‘Top 5 NFT Drops’ post – I will name some projects. I want to make a clear disclaimer though that I do not know how well these projects will perform – or whether they will perform at all. Look at this snip – this is how many projects there are dropping over the course of next week that I know of. This is most definitely not an exhaustive list because it has *literally* become impossible for me to keep up with projects that are launching. See for yourself.

I’m only going to discuss a couple of these projects on this. Please be aware of the numbers. Numbers do indicate hype – but only genuine numbers do. 0n1 Force’s numbers increased steadily across both Twitter and Discord on a day-by-day basis and that’s something you could rely on. Not all of these projects fall in that category.
These are releases sorted by average following, with the highest first.

This is an upcoming AB Curated release by Rich Lord. AB Curated projects enjoy the benefit of collectors constantly looking to complete their AB Curated collection (1 piece from each Curated project). Recently, AB Curated drops have been doing very well – see Phase. The drops are a dutch auction style and it creates quite a bit of suspense. If the previous drops are anything to go by – a couple of pieces will be minted at 3E, then a couple more at 2.5 – 1.5. The large majority will fly at 1.25 so I recommend setting higher gas and entering at 1.5. Before committing, I recommend doing some research into the existing AB Curated pieces. The floor I think for any collection atm is ~3eth – and this figure is consistently rising. Those that minted Fidenzas and flipped for a 2x or 1.5x profit are crying today watching those same pieces sell for 100+E. Generative art isn’t going anywhere and AB Curated is the absolute peak of generative art. Take that how you will. As always, do your own research.
Art Blocks Playground – Beatboxes

- Mint Date: 28 August UTC
- Mint Time: 7PM UTC
- Mint Size: 841
- Mint Price: 0.1 Eth

- Discord Following: 17959

This is an upcoming AB Playground drop. I know my snip says it’s Factory, but just ignore that it was a mistake. AB Playground drops have also done very well recently – with some collections moving above the ‘Playground’ status and reaching the level of attention usually reserved for ‘Curated’ (see Ecumenopolis). Part of the success behind Playground is the characteristically low mint count – always sub 1000 and sometimes even in the 100’s. Beatboxes is actually towards the higher end of mint counts within the Playground collection. Low mint count usually means that the dutch auction doesn’t progress very far – usually selling out either before or right after the first price drop. This is a generalization of course – but it’s the trend I’ve been seeing recently.

I covered this last week and my position stays the same. We still have no information, though some hints have been dropped. Send me a DM if you have any additional info about this project.
My position still hasn’t changed – I really like how much of a meme the community has turned this drop into. It’s different from the other 9000 avatar projects dropping every day and that’s why I like it.
Concluding Notes
I know I’m meant to do 5 and I’ve really only covered 2 new ones and re-hashed a previous one. The reason is that – and I’m being 100% honest – I’m not going to mint any of these other projects on the list. At least not without any new information.
After last week’s article, I got a few DM’s from people about having jumped into Secret Society of Whales, Boneheadsss, and even Slothz. I don’t want to mislead anyone reading this by continually writing about projects that I’m actually not going to, or at the very least not considering, participating in.
Boneheadsss turned out to be an absolute rug pull as well so it weighs on my conscience that people may be acting on what I write and losing a bunch of money as a result. Please please please do not ever just rely on my writing to make your financial decisions. You need to take what I say and apply a further layer of research on top before making a decision.
To those that minted 0n1 Force and are now up 10x or more congratulations! Moving forward, I want to only write about and bring attention to things that I would get into myself. You can use the figures in my spreadsheet to do further research / look into whether or not you want to participate in other launches – I actually implore you to do that.
I’ll be participating in both AB drops because I have faith in the position generative art will continue to hold in the NFT space and I believe AB will be at the top of that space for a long time to come. I would be happy holding even if the floor price for both go beneath their mint price – and I would do so with faith.
Anyway – the more research you do, the more prepared you will be. If you’re not preparing for success, then you’re preparing for failure. So always DYOR.
Thanks all!
